President has called for a review of trade relations with the United Kingdom (UK) following the country’s exit from the European Union.

Buhari’s media aide, Garba Shehu, the United Kingdom and its old partners in the Commonwealth of Nations now has the opportunity to renew trade ties with old partners and make new deals with them.

The British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson is reportedly on the same page with President Buhari on how to make a future Commonwealth prosperous and beneficial to members like Nigeria.

While speaking in Greenwich, Johnson was said to have shown interest in partnering with Nigeria and other nations of the Commonwealth in the emerging trade scenario occasioned by Brexit.“With the expected exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union having taken place, the stage is set for a new trade regime between the UK and its old partners as well as an alignment with new trading partners.

“President Muhammadu Buhari, understanding the inevitability of the situation, had stated earlier of the opportunities presented by Nigeria and indeed other nations of the Commonwealth in the emerging trade scenario occasioned by Brexit.
